There is some code in there to do parts already, but the -e/-E options have shown to be a better idea.
IIRC the SNMP dependancies are onerous and troublesome to work with (I think it even brings in perl.so which caused all sorts of issues including RPATH).

Better to have a stand-alone "thing" that knows which env variables to look for and sends the trap.
