I've gone over past threads on the DRBD list as you suggested, and found only this: http://archives.free.net.ph/message/20090909.131635.ef640f6a.en.html I am not entirely certain what specific problem the one-separate-cluster-at-each-site design addresses that one-node-on-each-site does not.
