But you're not setting the same values.

xen+ssh://client1@server1.mc.man.ac.uk/?keyfile=/root/.ssh/id_dsa
does not equal
xen://client1@server1.mc.man.ac.uk/usr/bin/virsh?keyfile=/root/.ssh/id_dsa

Or am I missing something?
